How did my Child get into the ESL Program?
upon Registration you filled out a home language Survey with 5 Questions. If any answer is a language other than English, your child will BE IN THE ESL PROGRAM.
1. Which language did your child speak when he or she first Began to talk?
2. What language does your child most frequently speak at home?
3. What language does your child most frequently speak with friends?
4. What language do you use most frequently to speak to your child?
5. Name the language(s) most often spoken By adults at home.
is the program Beneficial to my child?
yes! Teachers must do more to help your child.
such as, But not limited to:
- give extended time
- provide more visuals
- reteach
- retest
- one on one teaching
- allow peer assistance
- reduce number of items or work
- allow oral responses in place of written
- allow spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors
- Accept projects, drawings, etc that demonstrates learning
THE AMOUNT OF HELP GIVEN TO YOUR CHILD IS BASED ON WHAT HE OR SHE NEEDS TO SUCCEED.
WHEN YOUR CHILD IS READY, HE OR SHE WILL TEST OUT OF THE ESL PROGRAM.
